This course is designed for: 

  • Farms and ranches in Alberta with 20 or more regularly employed workers and who are required by occupational health and safety legislation to have a health & safety committee in place
  • Those operations who may not be required to have a health & safety committee but recognize the advantages of having one in place
  • Farming and ranching operations who are required by an occupational health and safety director to have a health and safety committee in place

Who should take this training:

  • Both worker and employer members of a health and safety committee, as it will help them better understand their roles and responsibilities
  • Farm owners or managers who want to better understand the role of a health and safety committee and how one should function on a farm

Why take this training:

  • This training supports the legislated requirement for health and safety committee member training
  • It includes tips and best practices to support the health and safety committee in being as effective as possible

Note: The course content reflects occupational health and safety legislation changes which came into effect in December of 2021.

This course takes approximately one hour to complete and there is a knowledge test at the end. A minimum score of 80% is required to successfully complete the course, and up to five attempts may be made before having to retake the course. A certificate of achievement is issued upon successful completion of the knowledge test.
